Softball Canada LTADM

Softball Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development Matrix (LTADM)

The Athlete Development Matrix (ADM) is a document designed to help guide coaches and administrators as they work together to develop athletes and is the foundation in which Softball Canada aligns its various resources, including coach certification and athlete program development.

The ADM is NOT a “cookbook” for high-performance excellence, but rather a guide to developing all players to maximize their enjoyment of the sport. It is also the foundation of VMSA's Player Development program and activities.

The LTADM is broken down into eight different stages:
  1. Active Start – 0-5 years old
  2. FUNdamentals(FUN) – 6—9 years old
  3. Learn to Train (L2T) – 10- 12 years old
  4. Train to Train (T2T) – 12-16 years olds
  5. Train to Compete (T2C) – 16-21 years olds
  6. Learn and Train to Win (L2TW) – 19+ domestic excellence
  7. Living to Win – 23+ -- international excellence
  8. Active For Life – All ages
