Vancouver Wildcats 2005: A Golden Finale
In a season marked by many achievements, the 2005 Vancouver Wildcats concluded their final season by capturing gold in the U19B Provincials. The team also won gold in the Kelowna, Langford, and Ridge Meadows tournaments this season.
The Wildcats' skill and dedication was on full display during the Provincial Championships July 19-21. They finished with a 3-1 record in Round Robin play, with wins against:
- Cloverdale Fury 05 - 8-1
- the hosts SS/WR Thunder 05/06 - 11-4
- Coquitlam Classics U19 - 20-0
These impressive results placed them second overall in the round robin, paving the way for a strong playoff performance.
In the playoffs, the Wildcats continued their dominant streak:
- Defeating the Central Saanich Extreme 11-4
- Overcoming the Langley Xtreme 05 with an 8-1 victory
- Securing an 8-4 win against the Langley Xtreme 06
Gold Medal Triumph
The pinnacle of the Wildcats' season came in the gold medal game, where they faced the Ridge Meadows Pride 06. Despite being the underdogs, and losing to them earlier in the playoffs, the Wildcats delivered an outstanding performance, winning 5-3 to claim the gold medal.
On to the Western Championships
For the second consecutive year, the 05 Wildcats have earned a spot in the Western Championships, set to be held in Irma, Alberta.
