Come Try Umpiring!

How does it work?

Participants will be paired with an experienced umpire instructor at a U11 game. The instructor will meet you at the field, teach you the basics of umpiring, liaise with the U11C coaches to make sure everyone is comfortable with how the game will be played, and you will be given the opportunity to umpire the game with the instructor providing in-game support.

Who can participate?

Anyone aged 12 years and older is welcome. Sign up alone or with a friend (or a parent!).

What experience is required?

None! No experience required, only a willingness to learn. Basic knowledge of the game of softball is an asset but not necessary.

When is it?

The program will run starting the last week of April and end in the last week of May.

What's the required commitment?

None. Come try once, come try again - as many times as you like! It's also alright if you don't come back at all. If you do love umpiring, we will help you become certified so that you can start working games in older age groups.

What does it cost?

Nothing! It's completely free. All equipment and a uniform wil be provided.
