Wildcats Uniform Standards
Wildcats Uniforms, Equipment and Clothing
The Wildcats are the outside travel representative face of the VMSA. They represent our Association at league and tournament games throughout the Lower Mainland and in some cases the N. Western US. Our teams should present themselves properly both in behaviour and appearance. Wildcats players purchase uniforms and socks and individual and team extras. A Wildcats logo is given to all Wildcats players as a helmet sticker and stitched on our hat. Uniforms are determined by the team from the options offered by the association. All teams have at least two shirt options. Always take both uniforms to tournaments and away games - Home team has the option of uniform colour if both teams are the same and a change is required.
Softball rules require that uniform jerseys are tucked in at all times. They will become untucked during the course of a game, but should be tucked in again when this happens. Softball uniforms are indeed that and our uniforms are designed to be tucked in. Most umpires will enforce this RULE but we rely on our COACHES to have our teams look presentable and professional at all times.
All exposed undergarments (tee shirts, long sleeve tee shirts, sliding shorts) are to be black.
Helmets should be all black (in some cases a navy blue helmet has been allowed) and a black face guard is mandatory, and should have the crest on the front and the number on the back. The defensive game mask ("infield mask") is required by VMSA for the pitcher, recommended for the infield at all levels, and optional for outfielders at U15 and above.
NO JEWELRY is to be worn on the field of play for safety reasons - this will be enforced by the umpires at games - remove visible piecing, no watches, rings, necklaces, earrings. This should also be a team rule for practice enforced by the team coaches.
In cold weather, team sweat tops may be worn on the field, but not pants.
If hats or visors are worn, they must have the Wildcats logo.
