Learn to Play (LTP) TimBits Softball is a proven approach to introducing softball in a FUN, Non-Competitive, and ACTION-orientated way. Parent participation is required. Every player must have one parent on the field. The LTP program provides coaches with an entire season of lessons, beginning with the basics and building as players progress. Teams are formed based on friend requests and school/ geographic area.  Sessions for U7 are limited to 1 hr in duration; 45 minutes of practice where softball skills are introduced and developed through fun, play-centred games followed by a 15 min one inning "game" with all players batting off the tee (no scoring). Sessions for U9 are increased to 1 hr & 15 minutes. Visit the Softball Canada website for more information: What is Timbits Softball?

Schedule:

  • 2 sessions per week: Wednesday evenings & Saturday mornings or midday
  • each session is 1hr 15 min for U9 (1 hr for U7)
  • each session has a practice with short modified fun "game" at the end
  • season starts in early April, ends around 3rd week of June.
  • No play on the long weekends & no rain makeups.

This is not a drop-off program. Parents participate as coaches and assistants. No experience with softball or coaching is needed. The LTP manuals are easily followed and provide background information for teaching proper techniques
